What We Have Built This Year

In a short space of time, we have established a clear and structured academic model across our Primary, Middle, and Senior school. Alongside this, we are delivering IB programmes while introducing A Levels, creating a dual pathway that is unique in this region. Each day extends beyond the classroom through our Discovery Program, where students engage in arts, sport, and real-world learning. This is strengthened by the integration of AI-supported platforms such as Century Tech, allowing for personalised learning, and a coaching model through Personal Development Coaches, ensuring every student is known, supported, and challenged. This is a significant achievement for a school in its first year.

Real-World Learning in Action

What makes this year truly meaningful is not just what has been built, but what students have experienced. Learning has not been confined to the classroom. It has taken place on the slopes of Laax, at Model United Nations in Barcelona, and within the creative energy of Milan Design Week. Students have stepped into studios at RSI, explored exhibitions at LAC, engaged with science at Ideatorio, and connected with local culture through visits to museums, libraries, and Swissminiatur. Even experiences such as go-karting in Como have been used to bring learning to life through real-world application.

Clear Academic Progress

At the same time, academic growth has been strong and measurable. Students have accelerated through levels, with four students already moving beyond their expected year group. Last month, we also had a student complete an entire year’s curriculum through Century Tech and progressed to the next grade. In the Middle Years Programme, every student has developed an in-depth Personal Project which will culminate in a formal exhibition this May. Meanwhile, our Pre-Diploma students have already begun preparing for the demands of the IB Diploma Programme, including early work toward their Extended Essay which will give them a distinct advantage as they move into their final years. Moreover, our MAP data shows that 50% of students are achieving above the 75th percentile for their age. This is all clear evidence of both progress and challenge and the strength of a program that does not limit growth.

Student Leadership and Creation

Beyond academics, students are creating, leading, and contributing in meaningful ways. Our student-led podcast is now live on Spotify, featuring interviews with professionals across industries. Each Friday, students engage with guest experts through our Masterclass programme. This term also saw the publication of a school anthology, showcasing student writing, and the launch of a student-led uniform business that is designing an innovative concept for the year ahead. Alongside this, the introduction of our House system has begun to shape a strong sense of belonging and identity, embedding what it means to be K.I.N.D. within the daily life of the school. This is what learning looks like when it is active, purposeful, and connected to the real world.

The Impact on Your Child

What matters most, however, is what we are now seeing in the children. Students are growing in confidence in how they communicate, present, and engage with others. They are developing a clearer understanding of their strengths and interests, becoming more invested in their learning, and taking greater ownership of their progress. This is the outcome of a model designed not just to deliver education, but to develop individuals.

A parent recently shared, “Watching the way you navigated challenges with such thoughtfulness, determination and grace has been incredibly inspiring… The curriculum and environment you have created feels so forward-thinking and practical for the world they are growing up in.”

And most powerfully, “He became part of something that will shape the way he learns, thinks and sees himself for years to come.”

What Comes Next

Next year, we build on this foundation with clarity and strength. You will see a continued strengthening of academic rigour and precision, alongside deeper development of both IB and A Level pathways. Our Discovery Program will expand further, offering even richer real-world experiences, while personalised learning through AI and data will continue to evolve.

We will also introduce Growth Mindset and Financial Literacy as core elements of the curriculum, alongside the roll-out of the K.I.N.D. 1% Diary which has been designed to support daily growth and reflection in every student. At the same time, there will be clear and tangible progress toward our future campus, as we continue to invest in exceptional staff, systems, and opportunities.

What has been built this year is not accidental. It is the result of clear vision, strong leadership, and a shared commitment to doing education differently. But more importantly, it is already changing the way students learn, think, and see themselves. And that is what matters. Because the world your children are entering will not reward those who simply followed the system. It will reward those who understand themselves, think independently, and know how to navigate what comes next.

At the beginning of this article, I shared a quote from Peter Drucker, “The best way to predict the future is to create it.” This is exactly what our students are learning to do. Not to wait for the future. Not to follow a predetermined path. But to understand themselves, think independently, and actively create the life ahead of them.

That is what we are building here.
