The Path Ahead — the ISS strategic plan

Where the International School of Switzerland is going and how it intends to get there: the vision, the five pillars the school is building on, and the goals set for the next five years.

Our vision

To cultivate Future Ready Global Citizens who lead with confidence, integrity and a commitment to making a positive impact on the world.

Everything below follows from that sentence. ISS is building a school community that prepares students to thrive in a world that keeps changing — through innovation, academic rigour and attention to the whole child rather than only the report card.

Five pillars

Academic excellenceRigorous classes that build critical thinking and inquiry-based learning; wider access to advanced coursework, including early university subjects; technology used as a Microsoft Elevate School, Showcase 2026-2027, to keep classrooms dynamic and future-focused.
Student well-being and developmentThe K.I.N.D. principles — Kindness, Innovation, Navigation, Discovery — embedded across school life; personal development coaching for academic and personal growth; programmes in the arts, sport and life skills.
Community and collaborationCloser work with families and open communication; partnerships with local businesses, universities and global organisations; service learning and community projects.
State-of-the-art facilitiesA dedicated STEAM Centre for hands-on innovation; flexible, technology-enabled spaces designed for working together; facilities that carry the academic programme and the wider one alike.
Sustainability and global citizenshipSustainability built into how the school runs and what it teaches; initiatives that ask students to meet global challenges with workable, creative solutions.

The plan is reviewed with students, families and staff; the pillars set the direction, not the detail of any single year.

Goals for the next five years

Four commitments the school has set itself, each one measurable by whether it happened.

  • Pupils at work in a classroom at ISS

    Expand enrolment

Welcome more students who share the school's view of what learning can be.

  • Everyday school life at ISS

    Launch signature programmes

New initiatives such as the ISS Arts Honours Programme and the Discovery Programme, widening what students can take part in.

  • An ISS student writing at her desk, with a laptop and coloured pencils

    Deepen partnerships

Collaborations with industry leaders and academic institutions that bring real-world work into the school.

  • A teacher explaining at the interactive whiteboard.

    Foster alumni connections

A network of ISS graduates whose paths show current students what is possible after school.

  • Pupils in class at ISS
  • Students playing a game on the sports pitch.
  • Pupils doing sport while classmates watch.
  • Young children playing on the floor of a bright activity room.
  • ISS students in a movement class in the studio

A shared journey

The strategic plan is a living document, shaped by the students, families, staff and wider community who make up the school. Together they are building a place where every student's potential is realised rather than assumed.

A plan is easier to judge in a classroom than on a page. Families considering ISS are welcome to come and see it on an ordinary school day.

See it for yourself

The clearest way to judge a school's direction is to watch it work on a normal Tuesday.
